I'm looking for a couple good wireless LAVs. I've used the sennheiser g2's but nothing else. I'm just looking for something quick to go straight into my camera (a cannon XH-A1).

Sound is not my expertise. Can anyone offer any adivce? Are there better ones to purchase? I'd like to stay around the $500-$800 mark per mic.

Sennheiser still is the best game...G3 set goes for $599. If you want to step up to their top in that line, we're talking about approximately $1830. The higher price gets you diversity reception and 100mw output, this system is called the 2000 series. If you want to go with the G3 set, it is basically the same as you had before, just a few newer upgrades, same accessories.

If anyone can offer their input on the Sennheiser G3's that would be awesome.

The G3 lavs sounds just fine. There are superior lavs available but before making a further suggestion, knowing what your primary use for them will be would be helpful.

We'll be using them for low-budget shoots. Mostly going into the camera or a small mixer. Also, we may be using up to 4 wireless mics per scene.

Also, I'm looking at purchasing them from BHphoto.com and they have different receivers for the G3s- some are B frequency some are G frequency, what does this mean? How many mics can I use with this receiver?- http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... s_UHF.html

Do I need to get special g3 mics for it?

The 'B' or 'G' frequency you mention is the frequency block (range) that the unit can operate in. You can go to the Sennheiser website to look up what frequencies are available (safe to use) in your area, then use that info to determine what freq block to buy. You should definitely talk to a human at B&H or where ever you buy from about the frequencies to be sure you don't end up with something in a block that the FCC has auctioned off to Google or some such thing.
The receiver unit you linked to will work with one transmitter at a time. (If I understand your question correctly)
Hope this helps.

That helps a ton, thanks!

Why would Sennheiser make the receiver blocks larger? They're like 4x the size of the G2's... Is there any advantage with these newer receivers?
